Chico Area Recreation & Park District Scholarship Fund
For the Summer of 2009 GoLocalChico is donating its non-profit fund to the Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) scholarship fund. As we all know this is a very difficult economic time. This year with so many families struggling to just make ends meet they simply can’t afford the “extras” for their children. It breaks your heart. The CARD scholarship fund is already in place helping many of our local families cope by getting their kids into camp and sports, off the street and out of the house in a safe and healthy environment.  One of the best feelings is being able to tell a family that their child can go to camp.

Jesus Center
The Jesus Center is a long time, 27 year, Chico non-profit that serves the poor of our community.
Our services include:
2 meals daily, Sunday 8 am breakfast and worship
Sabbath House shelter for women and children
Resource Center- offers showers, computer use, mail and phone service
Free Store-Thrift Store
Our 4th annual Run for Food is being held on Thanksgiving Morning at 9am, rain or shine! This is a great family event and a wonderful way to begin this special day. We are expecting over 3,000 runners this year…join in the fun!

The Sunshine Kids Club
Chico has over 5,000 children with special needs. This is a tremendously under-served population within our area. The Sunshine Kids Club is the ONLY fully inclusive non- profit program within Butte County. We are serving children with and without disabilities. Our programs are designed to foster self-esteem, empower kids and promote advocacy and acceptance for all children ages 5-18.
